D3 Console

More details about the DiabloWikiDiablo 3 Console, including how it is like and unlike the PC version, are emerging. I’m working on a huge update to the Diablowiki.net Diablo 3 Console article which will include all the Blue posts, basic infos, and play reports, but for now here are some new blue quotes of note:

Who amongst you harbors console buying plans? I’m not one, but I do find myself growing more and more curious how the economy and items will work. I hope some regular readers, who are expert in the D3 PC version, dive right into the console so we can benefit from their insights and observations come September 3rd.

A lot of us are more interested in the console for how the economy works with “fewer, better rares” and no Auction House, but no one really knows yet. I asked some specifics about that in the Josh and Wyatt interview and they speculated freely, but until millions of players are actually grinding away 12 hours a day it will remain hypothetical. The devs do affirm that they’ve done a lot more play-testing and balancing of the Console end game than we got in the “doubled it” early days of Diablo 3, and the console is launching with roughly the current version of the title, and thus benefits from all the patches and hotfixes we’ve seen over the past 14+ months.
